General Instructions: Honea-Worley Family History Award for ScholarshipTable of ContentsIntroduction
IntroductionA family history should be more than just names, dates, and places on charts. It should be a story of your people—who they were, where they came from, their churches, schools, etc. In other words, a family history (or genealogy) is putting together a complete picture of your family. No one is expected to fill in every blank on every chart, or fill in every detail. However, what you record needs to be complete, including the sources of your information (documentation) It's similar to writing a term paper. Besides outlining in detail what is expected of you, these instructions offer helpful hints on sources of specific information, and where you might find that information. The Marble Valley Historical Society is eager to lend assistance with your research when you need it. Help will be available at the Georgia Room at the Pickens County Library by appointment only. The Society will not do the work for you, but it will explain procedures and offer suggestions. Write the Marble Valley Historical Society (P.O. Box 815, Jasper, GA 30143) or send us an electronic message to request an appointment. |
