Kirby-Quinton Mountain Heritage Cabin

141 North Main St., Jasper, Georgia

Under the direction of the late Tom Quinton, the cabin was constructed (in 1975) from logs used in the original log cabin of Charles "Tsali" Dunbean. Some time after 6 July 1860 Stephen Kirby left Spartanburg District, South Carolina, moved into Pickens County and settled in the cabin which Dunbean had occupied prior to the Cherokee removal. Stephen Kirby raised a second family here following his marriage to Mary Mann.

Following Mr. Quinton’s death, his family donated the furniture and antique household furnishings to the Pickens County School Board.

In 1997, the School Board authorized the Historical Society to move the structure next to the Old Pickens County Jail.
